While some approach the yogic path through the physical in asana practice, Steven approached yoga through the path of meditation.  After a lifetime of personal practice since the age of ten, he went to the foothills of the Himalayas in India to persue a deeper study for nearly a year.  He learned many yogic and Buddhist techniques from a variety of teachers there, and engaged in intensive periods of meditation in caves and various holy places throughout India and Nepal.

Upon returning to the US, Steven felt a responsibility to share his knowledge with others.  After finding a strong resonance with renowned Buddhist meditation master David Nichtern, he completed the Dharma Moon teacher training course in order to find a simple way to share the technique of meditation.  This teaching comes through the lineage of Dilgo Khyentse, a teacher of the Dalai Lama and Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche.  The technique of mindfulness taught in this tradition is both simple and expansively complex.  No religious affiliation must be adhered to in order to practice it, which is why Steven chose this technique to teach in the west.  His goal is to make this practice available to anyone who is interested in learning.
