I am organizing a 5k run/walk for non-profit organization, To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA) to be held on April 14th (this is an event that has been happening in Florida and around the world since 2013). Through our One Love Flows program, which supports a different non-profit every month, February proceeds went to this organization. To Write Love On Her Arms is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire, and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery.
Inspired by ahimsa, the yogic principle of non-violence, my mission is to bring people together for a common cause and to foster non-violence in words and actions in the ways we interact with ourselves and others. I have experienced this at Dhyana Yoga Arts— the first time I met Deanna I knew that she was a good person and I felt welcomed by every teacher at the studio— that is one of the main reasons I chose Dhyana Yoga Arts as my yoga studio and community. I hope to further inspire community and non-violence through words and actions at this event. All are welcome! You can choose to dedicate the run/walk to anyone or anything, whether it is for yourself, in memory of a loved one, in the spirit of health, or anything that is meaningful to you!
Click below for details about the organization and the virtual 5k. Stay tuned for more information. There will be a 5k run nearby the studio and option to come for a yoga class, fun treats, and prizes...
