Deanna celebrates Yoga's power in cultivating Self-realization and nourishing the body-mind-spirit. She is the founder of Dhyana Yoga Arts, specializes in Alignment and Yoga for Backcare & Scoliosis, and teaches Vinyasa, Backcare & Scoliosis, Restorative, and Ayurveda in classes, private sessions, workshops and Yoga Teacher Trainings throughout the east coast.

Her compassionate, clear, and receptive teaching style is informed by over twenty years of experience in movement and creative arts, eleven years of teaching Yoga and mentoring teachers, as well as experience overcoming chronic back pain associated with scoliosis.

After directing her energy to writing, literature, and theater arts at Rutgers University, Deanna studied acting and movement at Maggie Flanigan Studio in NYC, where she first recognized the effects that chronic back and sciatic pain were having on her body and mind.  She explored many Eastern & Western practices and found that Yoga and Meditation build Self-Awareness and strengthen our innate ability for transformation.

Deanna emphasizes the power of practice with high quality attention to cultivate equanimity, clarity, compassion, and a holistic health.  Her classes weave Yoga philosophy and conscious alignment, breath, and movement into a meditative practice.  She empowers students to learn to modify for their unique needs, build focus and strength, and calm the mind.

Deanna has been teaching for over a decade and mentoring teachers since 2010.  She trained with a range of inspiring teachers including: Vinyasa with Dana Flynn, Ali Cramer, and Stacey Brass;  Alignment, Yoga for Backcare & Scoliosis and Sling & Wall Ropes with Alison West;  Restorative Yoga with Judith Hanson Lasater;  Ayurvedic Counselor Certification with Dinacharya Institute/AVP in India;  Aerial Yoga with Chris Harrison; Tibetan Buddhism, Yoga and Fourth Way with Michael Hewett and Dushan Zarich. Her experience teaching at Yoga Union Backcare & Scoliosis Center in NYC and assisting Alison West and Rachel Jesien inspire her work in Backcare.  Her teaching style draws from all of these and from teaching for many years at Yoga studios throughout NYC and NJ.  She is eternally grateful for her meditation teacher, Sri Sri Sri Shivabalayogi, and for the presence of all of her teachers.

Deanna offers Teacher Trainings at Dhyana Yoga Arts, including Kurma Restorative Yoga Teacher Training, and is on the 300hr Teacher Training faculty at Sacred Sounds NYC and Bhakti Barn NJ
