Larry Pugliese aka Laksmi, is a forty-seven-year practitioner and teacher of the system of Bhakti Yoga. At the age of 23, after graduating from Albright College with a B.A. in English, he received in depth, formal training in bhakti while residing in an ashram for 13 years as a celibate monk. During this period, Laksmi deeply immersed himself in the philosophy and psychology of yoga by studying and teaching sacred texts such as the Bhagavad Gita, Bhagavat Purana and Yoga Sutras. Among sadhakas (strict practitioners of bhakti) Laksmi is considered a master teacher of the above-mentioned texts and known for his kirtan (music meditation) and meditational techniques such as yoga nidra and japa meditation. His kirtan CD released in 2009 was well received by the Yoga community world wide.
Laksmi has lectured in universities throughout the US, appeared on radio talk shows such as CBS Radio, appeared on the TV talk show hosted by Don Imus, and more recently hosted his own internet talk show called As It Is Radio on celestial space radio. While residing in NJ from 2010-2017, Laksmi lectured and performed music meditation, yoga nidra meditation and japa meditation in many of the yoga studios in the NY-NJ area. He is appreciated by many yoga aspirants for his ability to explain esoteric yogic wisdom in a way that is accessible, thought provoking and enjoyable.
