This is what you’ll learn to create for yourself inside my…

Yoga for Scoliosis & Sadhana 4-Month Program

Intelligent & Effective Yoga for Backcare & Scoliosis

Over the course of 4 months, you’ll learn how to …

  • practice yoga safely and effectively

  • develop short daily practices tailored to your unique backcare needs

  • know what to do on days when you’re feeling discomfort or pain and what to do on days when you want to do strength, flexibility and posture work

  • develop a holistic approach to living with scoliosis or other back conditions - honoring that we are multi-faceted beings, more than just the physical body (we have energetic, mental, emotional and spiritual layers of our being, and this approach encompasses them all)

  • empower yourself to practice on your own, apply backcare principles to everything you do and have fun in the process!

At this point, perhaps you’ve tried everything under the sun to find some relief for your back… and nothing worked …

Or you fear you’re a lost cause. You’re just getting older and this is how life is at a certain age…

You might wonder…

#1: “I don't know if i'm making it worse,” “I'm afraid strength work will progress my curve” or “In yoga classes, I’m afraid some things will tweak my back”

Now this is related to the fear of not having the proper knowledge and support - and of course we live in the age of information, some that may not be so useful - so it’s important to work with someone who has a lot of experience with this very specific type of practice - it’s different from other types of yoga!

Another common thing with scoliosis and other back conditions is that it can feel really challenging in our own bodies to sense what's helping and what isn't - it affects our proprioception and body awareness.

#2: “I’m tired of being in pain or discomfort, and I’ve tried everything”

So many of my new students that have been in chronic pain get stuck in a mindset of “it's never going to change” or “it will only get worse” - ugh, I know what this feels like. You don’t have to live in a constant state of feeling stressed and exhausted - mind consumed by pain or discomfort. That makes it really dang hard to be present for the people and things you love.

So one of the first things I invite people to do is to be open to the possibility of change. Then we start to create space to take small steps to educate ourselves and to make choices to take the next conscious step.

#3: “It's exhausting to sit, stand or walk for long or even short periods of time”

Again I know how this feels. It's just so hard to just sit at the dinner table or to chill out with friends without feeling like it's a ton of work just to sit up or to get comfortable in one position. This again relates to the same fear of thinking that we'll be in chronic discomfort forever. It can be very frustrating and exhausting, and we may even feel like we'll never be able to enjoy life. It's important to know that you have things that you can do for yourself and conscious actions you can take to feel better.

#4: “There's nothing I can do about adult scoliosis”

I’ve been told this myself and this breaks my heart. There are things you can do to empower yourself (whether you have scoliosis or a different back issue) and take an active role in your healing and transformation.

Working with a qualified Backcare & Scoliosis Yoga Specialist can make ALL THE DIFFERENCE.

Hi!

I’m Deanna Sidoti

I’ve been teaching since 2007 and am a Backcare & Scoliosis Yoga Specialist. I’m known for my clear compassionate teaching style, informed by over 30 years of experience in movement and creative arts, as well as experience overcoming chronic back and sciatic pain associated with my own scoliosis and back challenges.

I have over 30 years experience finding what works for back health, and my students are constantly telling me how our work together has transformed their lives.

Yoga for Backcare & Scoliosis is a specialized practice. It's different from other types of yoga.

Self-compassion and a little bit of effort each day go a long way.

I offer programs tailored to each individual’s unique backcare needs that include holistic tools for daily life, self-realization and empowering yourself through practice.

The Roots of my Backcare Journey

I’m a lover of learning and deep inquiry. As a child, I’ve always been an empath and felt connected to what I call Unconditional Love, the Divine, Source (insert-your-own-word).

In my early 20’s, when I had just graduated from Rutgers, I was on my way to Acting School - full of youth, excitement, hope and inspiration- riding on the waves of the aliveness and energy of working with other actors and the vibrancy of NYC (to me it was its’ own form of yoga).

But the truth is that I could barely sit up during class or on the subway, and I couldn’t wait to lay down when I got home just to find a little relief.

I was having insomnia from sciatica - constantly trying icepacks and menthol rubs to no avail… and debilitating pain and anxiety related to my scoliosis and back issues. It was torturous. My acting teacher saw that I was having blockages in my body during scenework (she had scoliosis too), and told me I'd better do something about it.

One day while I was on the job bartending, my leg buckled and I collapsed onto the floor (not common for any 22-year-old I knew at the time).

I had a sharp shooting pain in my leg that brought me down and then … a serious “aha” moment.

As my co-worker helped lift me from the floor, I knew I needed to take a different action ... but I felt like I had already tried everything (chiro, PT, massage, you-name-it), many Eastern and Western avenues of treatment … and nothing really worked.

…until I found Yoga and Meditation.

I realized I could empower myself to take an active role in my own healing and transformation.

After meeting my meditation teacher (a Swami from India), I dedicated myself to Yogic study, lived in Costa Rica for a few months in a meditation village (in a tent amidst the jungle) to focus, had realizations and healing experiences, and eventually returned to NYC to become a yoga teacher.

I discovered a deepening of purpose, presence, self-love, and ability to tune into my inner teacher and Source.

At first, I did the training with the intention to let it be an investment in myself that would support me throughout my life. I didn’t know yet that I wanted to teach.

Pronoia (the universe conspiring for you) set in, and I began to teach all over New York and New Jersey, gaining experience teaching in all types of venues and with all types of people, privately and in group settings.

My yogic training originally began in a devotional community full of creativity, joy and rebel mystic yogi tradition. I was fascinated by yogic study and went on to train in Ayurveda, restorative yoga, aerial yoga, Tibetan buddhism, and other spiritual traditions.

Eventually I realized I needed more support in the physical realm.

I had incredible teachers, but I realized no yoga teachers in my circles knew how to work with my unique back issues… they didn’t know how to answer my questions or help me address persistent physical discomfort in certain poses or everyday activities.

I went on to train with and assist world-renowned Yoga for Backcare & Scoliosis specialists and teach at the two main Yoga for Backcare & Scoliosis centers in New York City.

I learned how to address my chronic pain and got back to doing my fave physical activities again (yoga, rock climbing, dancing, hiking) and was overjoyed that my body and mind felt strong and balanced again.

I discovered I could work with my own back challenges in a conscious way and change the habitual patterns that were not serving me, and I loved being able to share this specialized knowledge tailored to each individual’s unique needs.

Since then, I’ve worked with hundreds of students with all types of back conditions, including scoliosis, herniation, stenosis, spondilolysthesis, spinal fusions, general back pain and joint issues.

I feel blessed to have worked with dedicated students across the US & Europe throughout my years of teaching. I adore my community at Dhyana Yoga Arts yoga studio in Chester, NJ, and my community where I live now in the Asheville, NC area, where I offer online and in-person group and 1:1 sessions, retreats and teacher trainings.

Along with my amazing team, we’ve cultivated a kind-hearted, welcoming community of people who appreciate our well-rounded approach to Yoga. Our students learn that Yoga is so much more than poses, and that Yoga is vast. Students often say they’re drawn here because it’s a place for true Yoga.

I’m happy to be doing what I love, teaching, mentoring, specializing in Yoga for Backcare & Scoliosis and leading Yoga Teacher Trainings in Alignment Vinyasa, Restorative Yoga, Rope Wall, Yoga Philosophy and more.

One of my gifts is making Yoga accessible for people of all levels, ages, and abilities. My students love to share with me how their lives have transformed with this work and that it helps them do the things they love to do with joy and ease.

This is why I created the Yoga for Scoliosis & Sadhana 4-Month Program.

What is Sadhana?

Sadhana is a Sanskrit word in yoga that refers to the power of daily practice (or sacred spiritual practice) and commitment to honoring your relationship with your Self & Source (however you connect).

Your practice is your fountain - I’ll teach you how to cultivate a practice that inspires you, keeps you feeling balanced, and supports you in truly listening to your body’s feedback so you can make choices that honor that inner voice that knows what’s good for you on any given day.

The magic is in consistent, short daily practices tailored specifically for you. Once you learn the basics, then you can empower yourself to apply them to everything you do.

This course if for you if you have scoliosis or a back condition and want to…

  • alleviate the pain, discomfort or anxiety that often comes with back issues so you can focus on sharing your gifts with the world and focus on what matters most to you

  • learn from an qualified Yoga for Backcare & Scoliosis Specialist with over 30 years experience finding what works best for back health

  • feel strong and clear physically and mentally, knowing exactly what to do for your curves

  • learn what to do on days when you feel pain/discomfort, what to do when you want to build strength and flexibility, and how to explore your yoga practice with confidence knowing you got this!

  • learn how to address that “pinchy” or “tweaky” feeling in your back or joints when you practice certain activities or yoga poses

  • return to the physical activities you love to do again with more awareness (like hiking, walking, doing fun physical activities with friends/fam/children/grandchildren and have longevity so you can enjoy those amazing relationships with vitality)

This will work wonders for you if you’re willing to…

  • take a conscious role in your healing and transformation through a commitment to short daily practices

I know it may sound like a lot, but what’s important to realize is that if you don’t invest in your overall health and backcare, you’ll likely…

  1. keep doing what you’ve been doin and keep getting the same results that aren’t working

  2. keep doing other types of yoga or exercise and keep re-aggravating your back, wondering why these things that are supposed to help may actually be detrimental

  3. resign to feeling like there’s nothing that you can do so you’ll just accept that daily pain or discomfort is your new norm

You don’t have to be in constant pain or discomfort - there are things you can do to feel better.

Once you learn the Backcare principles, you’ll embrace a new mindset and new patterning in your body (I call it re-patterning)… then you can apply these things to everything you do and embrace different types of movement again.

FAQ’s

What if I’m not ready to commit yet?

Some seeds take time to ripen. All good, you do you. I’m here as a resource if you want to connect. Currently, I run this program once per year, so feel free to join us next year if that’s better for you.

I will say that my students are consistently saying that they spent tons of time, money and effort on other modalities (chiro, acu, supplements, PT, pilates, etc) and they haven’t worked. Then they come to my program and are amazed out how quickly they start feeling better and feel empowered to practice a little each day… and they wish they learned all of this sooner.

Through lots of trial and error, money, effort, and time, I've discovered my favorite tools and integrated the ones I've found most beneficial into a well-rounded program.

This program will take you through the best of what I’ve learned in the last 30 years of my experience.

You'll be guided all the way with step-by-step content and regular contact with me.

What’s the deal with online learning? Can this really help me with my back?

My students are constantly telling me how they’re incredibly surprised at how much they love the online classes and private sessions. Here’s what they have to say…

I was really hesitant about online classes but I was pleasantly surprised! Every person in the zoom room is receiving individual feedback from Deanna and getting exactly what they need to practice with more awareness. I feel so much better after every class… and I love the feeling of community. These weekly classes are so good for my mind, emotions, and heart and give me strength in my everyday life. It’s so much more than just a physical practice!”
