The DYA Famiglia ~ Guest Teachers
Vanessa Nassif, E-RYT
In 2003, on the eve of her theatrical directorial debut, Vanessa was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and began a journey of self-healing that led her to discover the practice and power of yoga. Vanessa’s spiritual name, Jeet Kaur, means “The Lioness of God whose relationship with her Soul brings victory over all obstacles.”
Since returning to health, she’s dedicated herself to helping others through the practice of yoga and meditation. Yoga Aliance and Kundalini Research Institute certified, she’s grateful to her teachers: Dana Flynn, Jasmine Tarkeshi, Sat Jivan Kaur, Sat Jivan Singh, GuruMeher, Tom Kelly, Geri Portnoy, and Leslie Kaminoff. She holds a BFA in directing and performance from NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
For years, Vanessa taught at Laughing Lotus and to individuals and corporations throughout NYC. She and her husband were blessed to live in the yoga mecca of Encinitas, CA before settling in South Orange, NJ. Vanessa has mentored aspiring yoga teachers and taught in advanced YA teacher trainings in NYC, NJ and CA.
Vanessa specializes in the personalized practice and devotes most of her time to private clients. Her focus is on breath-centered movement, organic alignment, and most importantly, stilling the mind. She continues her studies in Embodied Anatomy with Amy Matthews in NYC.
